Here are answers to some common questions about photo sessions. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out—I’m always happy to help.
The best way to start is by reaching out through the contact form on my website, email, or text. Tell me a little about what you’re envisioning—family portraits, senior photos, a milestone you want to celebrate—and we’ll find a date that works. Once we confirm the session, I’ll guide you through the next steps.
For seniors and fall family photos, it’s best to book a few weeks—or even a couple months—in advance since those seasons fill quickly. If you’re hoping for spring or summer photos, reaching out early helps ensure we can find a date that works for everyone.
Most sessions take place outdoors at beautiful locations throughout the Northwest suburbs. I’m always happy to suggest spots that photograph well depending on the season.
I also offer sessions in my Inverness studio, which provides a simple, relaxed setting using professional studio lighting.
If you have a meaningful location in mind—your home, a favorite park, or somewhere special to your family—I’m always open to that as well.
After booking, I’m happy to offer guidance on clothing choices. Generally, soft colors, simple patterns, and coordinating (rather than matching) outfits photograph beautifully. The most important thing is that everyone feels comfortable and like themselves.
You’re not alone—many people feel that way at first! My sessions are relaxed and conversational. I’ll gently guide you when needed, but I also leave room for natural interaction. Often the best photos come from the moments in between the poses.
Most portrait sessions last about an hour, though it can vary depending on the type of session. I never rush the process. My goal is to create a relaxed environment so we can capture both beautiful portraits and authentic moments.
You can typically expect your full gallery within two to three weeks after your session. I carefully edit each image so that the final collection reflects the natural, timeless style you see in my work.
I also send a small sneak peek of fully edited images within the first few days after your session so you have something to enjoy (and share!) right away.
Your photos will be delivered through a private online gallery where you can download your images, share them with family, and order prints if you wish.
Yes. In addition to digital images, I offer high-quality prints and custom photo books. Many families especially love my documentary-style “A Day in the Life” sessions, which are designed to be preserved in heirloom books that can be enjoyed for generations.
Living in the Midwest means we sometimes have to be flexible. If weather becomes an issue, we’ll simply reschedule for another date that works for everyone
Yes, I do photograph select weddings and events. Feel free to reach out with details and I’d be happy to discuss whether your event is a good fit.
That’s completely fine. Many people reach out before they have all the details figured out. Tell me a little about what you’re hoping for, and I’ll help guide you toward the type of session and location that will work best. I’m always happy to talk through ideas.
Yes. Your online gallery includes a built-in print shop where you can easily order professional-quality prints, framed photos, and other products directly from your images. These are produced through professional labs to ensure the color and quality match the way your photos were edited.
Many families choose to order prints or albums so their photos can be enjoyed in their home, not just on a screen.
